Getting Started with ISO 14001 certification
The first step in considering whether your organization should become ISO 14001 certified is to undertand the the standard. Start with the book Environmental Management Quick and Easy: Creating an Effective ISO 14001 EMS in Half the Time. The author explains the standard as it relates to actual implementation within an organization, and will help you understand how to design an EMS and the necessary information on auditing an EMS.

Once you understand the basics of the standard, you’ll want to consult with a third-party registrar/auditor who can answer more specific questions.
