ASQ Weekly Newsletter to Feature Monthly Contest
Prizes to Include Quality Press Book and Quality Journal Subscription
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 15, 2008 — Who defined the “Zero Defects” quality approach? What recognition system was created by the United States Congress in 1987 to reward organizations that promote quality? These are just a sample of the questions that, if answered correctly, could win readers prizes in a new monthly contest to be featured in ASQ Weekly, the electronic newsletter distributed each Wednesday to ASQ members.
The contest — to begin with the August 27 issue — will challenge readers on a variety of quality-based topics. After the newsletter is distributed, respondents will have until noon on Friday of that week to submit their responses via e-mail. For the first several months of the contest, answers will be found in the ASQ Knowledge Center. In subsequent months, the questions will be based on articles featured in ASQ Weekly. ASQ members who submit the correct answer will be put into a random drawing to win a prize.
Participants have the opportunity to win one of several prizes. One prize is the book, The Logical Thinking Process: A Systems Approach to Complex Problem Solving by William Dettmer. Using real-world applications, Dettmer has streamlined the process of constructing logic trees while simultaneously ensuring that the results are more logically sound and closer representations of reality than ever before. Another prize — awarded one month only — will be a Quality Management Journal subscription, which provides members with a forum for communicating and discussing research findings.
