ASQ Names Manager of Marketing Services
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 30, 2007 – The American Society for Quality (ASQ) has appointed Joseph "J.J." Shields as manager of marketing services. In this role, Shields will serve as manager of an 11-person team, with a concentration on strategic planning, brand compliance and the execution of marketing campaigns.
"Shields' extensive marketing background with a strong emphasis on brand development will prove to be a valuable addition to the Marketing Services workgroup and ASQ," said Paul Borawski, executive director and chief strategic officer of ASQ. "In addition, his management experience will help maintain a strong marketing services workgroup that is essential for the society and its members," added Borawski.
Shields' has a solid 25-year track record of growing success in world-class consumer and high technology industrial products companies. Most recently as manager of brand marketing for Case Construction Equipment, Racine, Wis., Shields was responsible for all aspects of marketing the Case brand in North America to reach market share and sales objectives. Prior marketing roles included ABB Robotics AB, Goteborg, Sweden, Snap-On Tools, Kenosha, Wis., and Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wis.

Shields earned his master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He also has held the position of adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, teaching marketing for more than 12 years.
