Why Do Professionals Join Associations?
ASQ Joins 15 Other Associations to Identify the Decision to Join

October 23, 2006—Beginning October 30, members and customers of associations throughout the United States will receive a survey that will answer one of two questions of the utmost importance to associations:

Why do you join?
OR
Why don’t you join?

While each person has a specific reason (or reasons), a study of this kind will help categorize these reasons.

This is ASQ’s hope in joining 15 other associations* as co-sponsors of the Decision to Join research study.  The study manager is the American Society for Association Executives (ASAE).

To conduct the study, ASAE will be sending surveys to 30,000 association members—3,000 of them will be ASQ members.

The report, expected to be available in April 2007, will assist associations to better understand members and, therefore, serve members more effectively.  The results will be shared with ASQ members.

If you receive the survey ASQ asks that you please complete and return it to the address provided.  The time you offer will go a long way in assisting your organization assist you.
