Michael Nichols Becomes ASQ President-Elect
April 30, 2006 — Michael Nichols was declared the new American Society for Quality President-Elect during the ASQ Annual Business Meeting, held prior to the opening of the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement. Nichols appeared on the ballot as the ASQ Nominating Committee’s candidate.
ASQ member Dan Sniezek, who petitioned to appear on the ballot, was the challenger.
“We must continue,” Nichols said, “to reinvent ourselves by creating new and interesting memberships that will attract the next generation of quality professions.
“We need to build on traditional approaches and create viable inroads that are accessible by the expanding quality community.”
Also announced during the meeting were officers in the uncontested races:
