Plans set for 35th Annual Division Conference
The Energy and Environmental Division will conduct its 35th annual Energy and Environmental Conference on September 15–18, 2008 at the Sheraton Imperial in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina.

The theme for this year’s conference is Quality Assurance: Back to Basics.

The technical program will focus on the application of quality assurance methods in the design, construction, and operation of nuclear power facilities, gas and oil facilities, research facilities, and other complex projects where quality assurance is vital to the success of the organization. Sessions will examine quality assurance applications for design, procurement, construction, data management, health and safety, environmental management, environmental restoration projects, operation of environmental laboratories, transportation of hazardous materials, and other high risk settings. The integration of quality management systems with health, safety, and environmental management systems will also be addressed.

An invitation is being extended to a commissioner with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the keynote address and invitations have been extended to officials with the NRC, Department of Energy, and other regulatory agencies for an Executive Panel discussion on quality assurance.

Mr. Dick Black, with the U.S. Department of Energy, has accepted the invitation to address the conference to speak on future designs and applications for nuclear reactors being developed by the DOE.

Questions about the conference should be sent to the Conference Chair, Dr. John Dew, at jrdew@troy.edu.

Questions about exhibiting at the conference should be addressed to Mr. Tom Koepp at koeppt@aol.com.
